From Memories of a Geisha~~~
At the temple, there is a poem called "Loss", carved into the stone.
It has three words...but the poet has scratched them out.
You cannot read "Loss"... Only feel it.
The heart dies a slow death, shedding each hope like leaves...
Until one day there are none.
No hopes.
Nothing remains.
That's powerful imagery when you write there are three words that have been scratched out symbolizing feeling loss but not seeing it.
ReplyDeleteLovely imagery with the leaf in the rain and the words that can haunt and desert...at the same time.
ReplyDeleteI read Memories of a Geisha quite some time ago, but I've kept a few poignant quotes from the book that I like.
